BOUNTIFUL — A Bountiful man already charged with kidnapping a toddler in his neighborhood and sexually abusing her now faces more criminal charges.

Kyle Curtis Jones, 23, was charged Monday in 2nd District Court with two counts of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony. He was already charged in December with child kidnapping and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, both first-degree felonies.

In December, Jones was charged with taking a toddler to his basement and sexually abusing her. He told police that he found the girl playing on a trampoline in his backyard and took her inside his apartment to look at his trains, charging documents state. The girl, however, told her mother that she was in her own yard when he approached her.

After that arrest, police learned about a 12-year-old girl who said she had been sexually abused during the summer of 2016 by Jones, according to the charges filed Monday.

"The girl stated that the defendant touched her … while they were jumping on a trampoline," the charges state.

Jones' parents told police he "has been diagnosed with developmental delays and autism," according to the original charging documents.

A competency review for his first case is scheduled for Feb. 26. Jones is scheduled to make an initial appearance on his new charges on April 2.
