THE LAPTOP — It's been well-documented on social media that working from home has been tough on a lot of people, but homeschooling has also been rough on many students. For kids, going from seeing friends every day and getting hands-on learning to 100 percent remote and only seeing others through a computer monitor can be a rough transition.

This has been true for students at the American Heritage School in American Fork. I got a message from the school's communications director telling me moving from on-campus to online learning has been a big challenge for the students. BYU's mascot, Cosmo, is often being highlighted on ESPN or having danceoffs with the Oregon Duck, but he found some downtime during this quarantine and sports shutdown to come say hi to the American Heritage students.

Apparently, Cosmo didn't hear about all schools being shut down, so he didn't find any students. Instead of going classroom to classroom or having a big stunt in the gym, he sat down in the computer lab and did an online meeting with the kids.

I love how you can see how excited the students are when they see Cosmo. You can tell it made their day and was the highlight of their homeschool experience so far.

Thanks to Cosmo for making time to bring some joy, thanks to teachers everywhere working to keep students learning, and thanks to parents for taking all of this on — because it's not easy.

I'm now working on getting Cosmo's email address to invite him to one of my virtual team meetings.
