SALT LAKE CITY — When I first moved to Salt Lake City from southern Utah, my thickest coat was apparently "a jacket" (according to my bus driver).

I will be the first to say snowboarding that season was miserable until I figured out how to gear up properly.

If you, too, want to be more prepared for a great winter with (hopefully) lots of snow, check out this cool, new stuff on crowdfunding site Kickstarter:

1. Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0:

An important part of being prepared for winter adventures is a quality coat. You can sport the Camper Hooded Jacket around town, in the mountains or underneath your ski coat.

The jacket, a product of local company Coalatree, raised $329,369 on Kickstarter — where individuals or companies can launch and fund a product if early backers pre-order their products and help them reach their financial goal.

The Camper jacket is water resistant, lightweight and has lots of pockets to store all your goodies. Plus, it’s sustainably sourced and can pack itself into a pillow if you need to take a snooze at the ski lodge or on a camping trip.

Early birds can get the jacket for $64.

2. MessyWeekend Goggles:

The MessyWeekend goggles were created by a Danish company that's attempting to disrupt the eyewear industry by producing high-quality snow goggles that don't break your bank.

This company has raised over $300,000 on Kickstarter with 14 days left to go. Early backers can get the goggles for $79.

The goggles have full UV400 protection and come with revo-coated lenses — the same tech NASA uses as solar protection for satellites. If you've ever gotten annoyed after defogging your goggles for the millionth time, these have an anti-fog ventilation system and coating.

And if you're worried about falling and breaking them? The goggles have impact-resistant lenses that are also interchangeable.

3. Black Diamond Custom Molded True Wireless Earphones:

Forget dealing with cords on the slopes. These wireless earphones that shape to your ear should make skiing and jamming down the mountain seamless and simple. They're perfect for athletes who can't risk losing their earbuds in the movement, the Colorado company claims.

Just heat these waterproof earbuds in hot water, then press them into your ear where they'll mold to its shape. They shouldn't lose their shape until they're reheated. The Bluetooth earphones are said to have a battery that lasts all-day with award-winning sound.

Backers have so far pledged almost $200,000 with seven days left in the campaign. Early backers can get these earphones and a charging case for $109.

4. The Flare World’s Warmest Shirt with Phone Charging:

Coming in hot (get it, haha) from our very own Sandy, Utah, this company has created the "world's warmest shirt."

It's hard to stay warm without overheating, especially as you move around while skiing or snowboarding.

This shirt is made of a lightweight, carbon fiber material that will heat up using electricity from a power bank you keep in your pocket. It even has three different heat settings so you can warm up as you ride the lift but cool down as you ski and sweat.

The power bank can even be used to charge your phone.

The Kickstarter has raised almost $150,000 with 22 more days to go. Early backers can get a shirt for $99.

5. Nebula Capsule II:

This isn't necessarily ski gear, but you need something for your post-slope crash and binge.

Whether you’re out camping in the mountains or back at home, the Nebula Capsule II is the world's first Android TV pocket cinema and will stream 720p HD video on any surface.

The device will stream for three hours before it needs to be recharged and has USB-C power delivery. It is similar to its predecessor, but adds new capabilities, including Android TV, Google Assistant, HD picture quality and improved audio.

Grab some drinks, your friends and relax anytime, anywhere after a long day in the mountains.

The Kickstarter has raised over $1 million so far with 45 days left to go. Early backers can get the Nebula for $399.

So don't be a jerry, get ready for ski season!
