VINEYARD, Utah — A Vineyard woman is lucky to be alive after a crowbar crashed into her windshield Monday.
Lexi Rockhill was driving home from work, heading southbound on I-15 in Lehi, when the tool smashed into the driver’s side of her windshield.
“As I was driving, it just flipped out of nowhere and it just scared me to death,” she said. “It came out of nowhere and ... the prongs came through the windshield.”
Rockhill thinks it must have come off of someone’s truck before hitting her car and continuing down the freeway during rush hour.
Her husband, Riley, hopes no other loved ones have to get a similar call.
“I drive a truck, and most of the time if I have something that is heavy or anything that could fall out I strap it down, because that could have been a lot worse than it was, for sure,” said Riley Rockhill.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers also stress his safety message: Make sure your stuff is strapped down. Sadly, they say this is a problem that happens all too often.
While Lexi’s car may be in the shop for some time now, the result could have been a lot worse.
“It just happened so fast. So, yeah, I’m just lucky to be alive,” she said.
The Rockhills have to cough up their insurance co-pay to fix the damage, unless they can figure out who’s to blame for the crowbar.
