Transit service will be significantly improved in Salt Lake City in the following years, as outlined in the city’s Transit Master Plan and made possible through the Funding Our Future initiative. Frequency will be increased to fill gaps in evening, mid-day and weekend service; new service will be created on east-west routes, and bus stops will be improved.

The first phase of improved service will begin August 2019 with increased frequency of service and expanded span of service along key initial routes (200 South, 900 South, and 2100 South) and additional buses. These, along with other exciting upcoming transit improvements make no better time than now to take advantage of the Hive Pass program and join 93% of satisfied cardholders.

The Hive Pass is a program of Salt Lake City that makes using transit easy and affordable for City residents. To be eligible, your home address must be within Salt Lake City boundaries.

The pass covers unlimited rides on UTA buses, TRAX, and S-Line Streetcar. FrontRunner discounts are available to Hive Pass holders*. As an added bonus, the pass now includes a one-year membership to GREENbike. The cost of the pass to a resident is $42, a 50% discount from a regular monthly UTA pass. This is currently the best transit pass deal available for Salt Lake City residents.

Hive Pass activates on the first day of the month for which it is purchased and is valid until the end of the calendar month. Riders can expect to make up the cost of a Hive Pass after 18 trips, or nine round trips a month. The more you use your Hive Pass the cheaper your transportation costs become.

To get a Hive Pass you can visit one of the three sales locations or purchase online for easier access. You will need both proof of residency and proof of identity to get a Hive Pass. After your initial purchase, you have the option to pay over the phone, make online payments, set up automatic payments, or pay in person.
