IVINS — After nearly a decade of no changes in the cost of a daily pass, the price to enter Snow Canyon State Park will increase beginning Sunday.

The day-use per vehicle fee will increase from $6 to $10; senior per vehicle fees will increase from $3 to $5; and pedestrian/cyclist fees will increase from $4 to $5 for a group of up to eight, St. George News reported.

The decision to raise fees was made with input from both the Snow Canyon Citizen Advisory Team and Snow Canyon Joint Management Committee.

“The Utah State Legislature continues to place an emphasis on all Utah State Parks becoming self-sufficient, with the expectation that revenues cover both day-to-day operating costs as well as long-term improvement costs,” said Kristen Comella, Snow Canyon State Park manager, according to a press release.

“Since 2013 nearly $2-million dollars has been invested in the park,” Comella said. “The additional revenue generated by the day-use fee increase will help us meet our legislative mandate; enable the State Park system to continue improving and maintaining park infrastructure and facilities; and bring new visitor opportunities to the canyon.”

The annual Snow Canyon Desert Discovery Pass, otherwise known as the “locals pass,” will remain at $30. Utah Annual State Park and Senior Annual State Park passes, which allow year-round access to any Utah state park, will remain at $75 and $35, respectively.
