TREMONTON — A man died and another man was arrested after an argument led to a shooting early Monday morning, police said.

Michael K. Hogenson, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene and Brandon Keith Thompson, 30, of Tremonton, was arrested and booked into the Box Elder County Jail on suspicion of aggravated homicide, obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, according to Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 3625 W. 1000 North about 3:45 a.m., Nance said.

He said some sort of argument led to the shooting and that Thompson called police to report it. The two men were not related but were acquaintances and that Thompson resided at the home, Nance added.

Another person inside the home was asleep at the time of the shooting, Nance said.

Police were still collecting evidence at the scene of the shooting Monday afternoon. Box Elder County Sheriff's Office and other agencies are assisting in the investigation.

Court records show Thompson pleaded guilty to theft by stolen property, a third-degree felony, in 2007. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor theft charge in 2010, according to court records.
