MURRAY — Officials have identified a man who died Saturday morning after crashing his car on I-15, running out of the car and ultimately getting struck by several vehicles.
Ismail Ibrahim Hissein Abdallah, 22, was traveling south on I-15 at 3900 South at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Utah Highway Patrol troopers reported via the agency’s website.
Abdallah veered to the right and hit the concrete barrier on the freeway then veered back to the left, hitting the barrier on the left side of the road.
He then got out of the car and tried to run across the freeway but was hit by multiple cars instead. Abdallah died at the scene.
Though it was initially unknown why Abdallah veered to the right before the crash, further investigation revealed his car came into contact with a second vehicle prior to him veering and hitting the concrete barrier, UHP officials confirmed Sunday.
Investigators are working to identify the second vehicle and its driver.
