SALT LAKE CITY — The wait is over.
After suffering a separated shoulder in the Utah Jazz preseason, point guard Dante Exum will return to play for the Utah Jazz Thursday night against the Phoenix Suns.
Exum underwent surgery on Oct. 24 to stabilize the separated AC joint in his left shoulder after falling to the court following a foul by the Suns' T.J. Warren during Utah's game against Phoenix on Oct. 6.
Exum missed the Jazz's last 68 games as he rehabbed from the surgery, gaining strength in the joint and preparing to return to action. Before then, Exum had impressed in summer league (averaging 20 points per game in the three Utah Jazz Summer League games in Salt Lake City) and preseason, albeit against less-than-NBA caliber competition.
The 22-year-old Australian guard has had an unlucky start to his career. Exum missed his sophomore season after tearing his ACL in his knee during play with the Australian national team. When he has been available, Exum played 148 games, averaging 5.4 points and 2.1 assists per game.
Exum will meet with the media following the Jazz's shootaround Thursday morning.
