HOME SWEET HOME — There’s all sorts of stereotypes and realities about getting older, and the most popular one is probably about losing some mental sharpness.

In most cases, a loss of any capacity is sad and difficult. No one wants to lose their independence or their sense of self, and no one wants to watch a loved one go through that.

But once in awhile, a little absent-mindedness from the elderly turns out to be a hysterical experience for everyone involved. In this instance, it comes to us in the form of, you guessed it, a YouTube video.

In the video, a man and his adult children are in the throes of looking for a ringing phone. Everyone can hear it ringing, but no one can find it. They’ve already gone through the process of elimination, and they are sure the phone is somewhere on Papa’s person. But no one can find it — not even Papa.

No amount of checking pockets and pat-downs reveals where the sneaky phone is hiding. Papa even reaches up to jokingly check his short hair for his phone — a classic dad joke.

The video starts a little slow, but stick with it. The funniness grows the longer they look for the phone.

I won’t spoil it and tell you how it turns out because the peak of the video made me bark with laughter, and I want you to have that experience too. Even though the reveal is great, it couldn’t have been that way if Papa and his crew weren’t having a great time with the whole experience.

This video was first posted on YouTube a few months ago, but is currently garnering some much-warranted attention.
