ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A Utah man involved in an officer-involved shooting on Christmas Eve has pleaded not guilty.

The Spectrum reports that 38-year-old Benjamin Dee Wilcken's attorney entered the plea on Tuesday.

Wilcken is charged with second-degree assault against law enforcement, second-degree terroristic threats and third-degree possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Police accuse him of threatening officers multiple times on Dec. 24 after he locked himself in the garage of a Cedar City residence. He was shot in the chest by an Iron County sheriff's deputy after he refused multiple orders to drop to the floor and release the knife he had been wielding.

Wilcken was wearing body armor when he was shot. He was not injured in the incident.

Wilcken remains jailed on $75,000 cash-only bail.
