CENTERVILLE — While many may be celebrating a significant winter storm finally dropping snow in Utah, the weather might mean a little more to one neighborhood where several of the houses seem to still be "dreaming of a white Christmas.”

“We have a little contagious thing going on our street here,” said Coleen Clark, whose home glowed with Christmas lights Friday night.

Inside, a brightly-lit Christmas tree still stood in the living room. Outside, a sign sat on the front porch that read, “Let it snow!”

“My kids call it ‘linger longer,’” Clark said, with Christmas music playing softly in the background. “Every good moment, I like it to linger longer. I love the aftermaths of events as much as the anticipation and the event itself.”

Though the holidays have lingered at Clark’s house, one feature has been noticeably absent for most of the season: snow.

“I mean, it’s been like spring outside,” she said.

Clark understandably welcomed the 3 to 6 new inches of anticipated snow Friday night into Saturday.

“Love it, absolutely love it,” she exclaimed. “The snow started coming down, and I said, ‘Okay, we’re going to turn the Christmas music on and enjoy this!’”

Not only did Clark say she appreciated the look of fresh snow on the ground, she also understood its importance.

“We need the water,” Clark said. “When you have a mild winter, you pay the price in summer and last year was wonderful having enough water.”

While January may be viewed by many — Clark included — as a "dreary" month, Clark said the snow and "lingering" holiday spirit added some warmth to the cold weather.

“We know how to do snow here,” Clark said.
