CEDAR CITY — Two men were arrested Monday in connection with a pair of break-ins in which authorities said individuals broke into the U.S. Post Office in Loa and took “numerous packages and boxes addressed to various Wayne County residents" before breaking into a high school over the weekend.

Wayne County Sheriff Kurt Taylor and two deputies, as well as U.S. Postal Service inspectors, responded to a report of a burglary at the post office, 12 N. Main Street, at approximately 7:30 a.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

When they arrived, they found "numerous" packages and boxes had been stolen. The following day, the sheriff’s office received a report that Wayne County High School, located at 265 N. 400 West in Bicknell, had also been burglarized. Authorities said individuals broke into the school and took multiple electronic devices and an assortment of tools.

The three individuals then left the school in a dark-colored van pulling a utility trailer. On Monday, Iron County Sheriff’s deputies and Cedar City police assisted in arresting two men in connection with the burglaries.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said a utility trailer matching the description of the trailer involved in the high school burglary was located Tuesday. The owner of the trailer said it had been stolen from the Loa area.

Authorities did not say if they had located a third person in the burglary. The names of the two men arrested were not immediately released.
