LOGAN — Jalen Davis had just one scholarship offer when he signed with Utah State prior to the 2014 season.
Four years later, he’s left his mark on the Aggies.
Davis was named a Walter Camp first-team All-American in 2017 by the nation’s oldest All-American organization, it was announced this week. The 5-foot-10 cornerback ranked first in the nation with three interceptions returned for touchdowns, pulling down five total picks and 13 pass deflections.
A native of La Mesa, California, Davis finished the final regular season of his prolific Aggie career with 11 interceptions. He’ll suit up for Utah State for the final time Dec. 29 in the Arizona Bowl against New Mexico State.
A second-team All-Mountain West preseason selection, Davis is the second player in Utah State history to earn All-American status from the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the first since Phil Olsen in 1969.
He’s the ninth Aggie to be named a first-team All-American by any organization, and the second defensive back since Henry King in 1966.
