THE FAMILY ROOM — I have a very on-again, off-again relationship with my beard.

It's off-again when I get all itchy and am constantly scratching my face like I have chickenpox. It's on-again when I take a look at my freshly shaved face and realize I look like a 13-year-old prepubescent man-child and not a father of three in his mid-30s.

The relationship was on-again for quite some time until I shaved my facial hair recently. After it happened, my 7-year-old daughter looked at me inquisitively and finally said, "You don't look like daddy."

She was right, I looked like a 13-year-old version of her daddy. So maybe I should grow it back.

Well, the dad in this video had apparently sported a beard for the entire lifespan of his little girl. The dad shows up and tries to give his little princess a hug, but the adorable little one has no idea who he is.

The video is cute, but I also get weirdly emotional over videos of dads and their kids, so I also felt bad because I imagined my 1-year-old daughter being afraid of me and refusing to give me a hug.

Yes, it was a little embarrassing as I sat there frowning at my computer screen, but I am who I am. Thankfully, at the end of the video, the dad is holding his daughter and she tells him she loves him and gives him a big hug, which made me happy and emotional for a whole other reason.

Watch the video— I'm going home to hug my kids and grow a beard.
