MAKING YOU CRY — We all love sports for the heartwarming moments — and also for the coldest of shoulders.

In this weekend’s Great Clips, we have a little bit of both. As always, click the video above for the full highlight reel.

Jazz rookie surprises mom

Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell made big news this weekend, and it wasn’t just for his play on the court.

The 2017 first-round draft pick has been sensational, averaging 14.9 points per game to rank fourth among active rookies for the otherwise-average Jazz. That includes nearly 20 points per game on 42 percent shooting over the past month, and he’s only getting started.

But Saturday, he topped every stat he’s produced on the court.

Mitchell surprised his mother Nicole at his hometown Greenwich Country Day School with a brand-new Audi, and included one of the most heartfelt tributes to a special woman you will read from an NBA player this year.

“Words can’t describe how happy I am to be able to give you this car!” Mitchell wrote on Instagram. “I remember listening to a song walking around Louisville after being in the gym at 2 am and I texted you and said I’m gonna make sure you never have to work again! This is just the beginning! I love you so much thank you for everything you have done for me ❤️ @nicole3mitch .... thank you @audigreenwich for the help!!”

A lot of Jazz fans have naturally tempered their expectations for Mitchell, even if he has shown All-Star-level promise through the first few months of his NBA career.

But for reasons like Saturday — and an excellent family that KSL Sports profiled this summer — it’s hard not to root for the guy.

Mitchell clowns Hood, too

When he isn’t lighting up NBA defenses, Mitchell is celebrating his teammates as well.

Shooting guard Rodney Hood was straight "en fuego" after torching the Orlando Magic for 31 points on 12-of-21 shooting, so Mitchell volunteered to cool him off during Hood’s postgame TV interview.

Just watch the hair, rookie.

Don't snub Baker Mayfield … but did he go too far?

Speaking of on fire, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, the presumed Heisman Trophy front-runner, had another big game Saturday. The emotional signal caller completed 23-of-35 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-3 rout of the Jayhawks.

Yes, it’s Kansas. But Mayfield may have been a little motivated after the Jayhawk captains snubbed him at midfield during the ceremonial handshake prior to kickoff.

Mayfield, who was not amused, rolled up his sleeves and did work against the hapless Kansas defense, who went all in on late hits that some argue could have seriously injured the Heisman frontrunner's throwing shoulder. After one score, Mayfield was filmed grabbing himself below the belt while directing it at the sideline, and another time he directed an expletive toward the Jayhawk sideline while telling the crowd to "stick to basketball."

Following the game, Mayfield issued an apology. But did he need to?

What do you think? Should Mayfield have apologized for his actions, or was Kansas’ provocation all the reasoning he needed?
