SALT LAKE CITY — Today's Jazz Daily comes in between New York City contests for the Jazz. After losing to the Knicks on Wednesday night, the Jazz take on the Brooklyn Nets Friday at 5:30 p.m. MT. Here's what's going on with the team.

Injury update

There's a new appearance on the injury report for the Jazz on Thursday. Point guard Ricky Rubio is listed as questionable for Friday's game due to soreness in his right Achilles tendon. It's Rubio's first appearance on the injury report of the regular season.

If Rubio isn't able to go, Quin Snyder would have a couple of options with the starting lineup. The first is to go with a relatively like-for-like switch, putting Raul Neto in the starting lineup. But then that would leave the Jazz without a natural option at the backup point guard, though Alec Burks could fill in that spot.

But I think it's probably more likely for the Jazz to throw Donovan Mitchell in the point guard slot, promoting Rodney Hood back to the starting lineup, and going with a more natural Neto/Burks/Royce O'Neale/Thabo Sefolosha/Ekpe Udoh bench look. That lineup is pretty bad, yes, so I'd expect the Jazz to do significant mixing and matching between the starters and bench units.

After being evaluated this week by a hand specialist, Joe Johnson is out for another two weeks with the injury in his wrist. The Jazz could really use Johnson right now, especially while Rudy Gobert is out.

Gobert and Dante Exum are still out with their long-term injuries, though Gobert traveled with the team on this four-game road trip. Nate Wolters and Eric Griffin, the Jazz's two-way contract players, are on assignment with the Salt Lake City Stars, who played in Santa Cruz Wednesday. It'll be interesting to see if Rubio's questionable diagnosis forces the Jazz to fly Wolters cross-country out to New York to perhaps play with the team.

Jazz players on national podcasts

Whether it be because of the trip to New York, or just a timing coincidence, multiple members of the Jazz are finding themselves on some national podcasts.

Joe Ingles spoke to Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post podcast Thursday, about "his one-in-a-million path, Gordon Hayward leaving, American foibles, Quin Snyder's midnight texts, Dante Exum's hero worship, and more," according to the podcast description.

Gobert went on Adrian Wojnarowski's podcast, too. That podcast is to "discuss his emergence as an All-NBA center, Dion Waiters’ role in his knee injury, the loss of Hayward, the rise of French national basketball and hopes of beating Team USA in the Olympics, and much, much more."

Finally, The Vertical's Chris Mannix was in Salt Lake City last week, following around the Jazz. He got an interview with Jazz head coach Quin Snyder "to talk about how Utah is moving forward after the loss of Gordon Hayward."

Donovan Mitchell against other Jazz rookies

A couple of users on the Jazz's Reddit page did some interesting work comparing Donovan Mitchell's production through the first 15 games to that of other notable Jazz rookies:

It's interesting to me that Mitchell's shooting percentages and scoring totals match up pretty well with Deron Williams' contributions in his rookie season. Besides that, look at how much Enes Kanter contributed on the glass, one of the core skills that keeps him in the NBA today.

The fall of Anthony Bennett

Man, what a bad career for Anthony Bennett. After getting drafted first overall in 2013, Bennett is now barely hanging on to a G-League team, the Northern Arizona Suns.

Now, Bennett is the sixth leading scorer on the Suns, who face the SLC Stars tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Salt Lake Community College's Lifetime Activities Center.
