BOSTON — Former BYU linebacker Harvey Langi was seriously injured in a car crash that also involved his wife Cassidy last Friday night.

On Thursday, the New England Patriots rookie had a tearful reunion with his spouse in the Boston-area hospital where they are staying.

The Langis both suffered serious damage during the accident, which the Patriots quickly confirmed involved the former BYU linebacker and "a passenger," which Cassidy Langi cheekily admitted was her on social media.

Harvey Langi first shared the reunion in an Instagram post he jokingly called "from one date night to another."

"I want first (to) thank my Heavenly Father for His love," he wrote. "Then to my wife for being so strong. And for my family and friends that have kept us in their thoughts and prayers. Thank you."

Cassidy Langi then shared video of her husband's first walk, aided by crutches, into her hospital room. The blurry-eyed moment shows Harvey Langi walk into the room on crutches, apologizing for "taking forever to come see" her.

Cassidy Langi explained on her Instagram account what happened on Friday, Oct. 13 — "date night," she called it — that sent the young couple to the hospital. The two were stopped at a traffic signal close to their home when an SUV rear-ended their vehicle. Crews arrived on the scene and transported both Langis with "serious but non-fatal injuries" to a nearby hospital.

Friday the 13, 2017 was date night for Harv and I 👫On our way home we stopped at the light to turn to our house, when all of a sudden a SUV rammed straight into us. I completely blacked out and don’t remember anything, while Harvey remembers seeing me, his wife, laying lifeless and gushing blood. It’s been 3 days since that moment and we were finally reunited. We have been in the hospital for a few days and still have a few days to go. We are so completely blessed to have each other to lean on through all of this craziness. We are so grateful for all of our family and friends who have taken the time to come visit us, reached out to us, prayed for us, and have shown us their love and support. Our hearts are completely full right now ❤️ I just want my husband Havea to know how blessed I am to be your wife. I know this is a huge trial we will be facing but I know we can get through this together, day by day. Thank you for always loving me and staying by my side through it all. I love you with all my heart babe 💜😘

By Thursday afternoon, the video had been viewed and shared more than 11,000 times, with several outlets like NBC's Today Show also featuring the encounter.

The Langis were immediately taken to separate hospitals after the crash, a family member told the Deseret News, before being reunited. Langi was treated for head and neck injuries, while his wife had more serious complications, such as fractures in both hips, broken ribs, internal bleeding, and injuries to her liver and spleen.

Both sets of family immediately departed for Boston upon hearing the news of the crash. The New England Patriots, who signed Langi to a six-figure undrafted free agent contract, reportedly helped members of the family make the trip, according to the Deseret News.
