Gordon Hayward's message to Boston fans

Ahead of Boston's home opener on Wednesday night, injured star and former Utah Jazzman Gordon Hayward had a message from his hospital bed for his fans:

> A message from [@gordonhayward](https://twitter.com/gordonhayward?ref_src=twsrc^tfw) in Boston! “Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s had me in their thoughts and prayers. I’m gonna be all right. It hurt me that I can’t be there for the home opener. I want nothing more than to be with my teammates and walk out on that floor tonight, but I’ll be supporting you guys from here and wishing you the best of luck. Kill it tonight.”

The Celtics, though, ended up losing to the Bucks, 108-100. More on that later.

Another sad injury

Hayward's not the only player who had his season end almost as soon as it started. Jeremy Lin of the Brooklyn Nets went down with a knee injury:

Oh man 😟 now Jeremy Lin is out in his first game with a knee injury 🙈 pic.twitter.com/fit7xZshbq — TJ Manotoc (@tjmanotoc) October 19, 2017

You can see Lin feel his knee, say "I'm done" three times and then start crying in pain. It's devastating.

Lin was diagnosed with a torn patella tendon. He too is out for the season.

Some good news: Giannis Antetokounmpo

So after two sad stories with season-ending injuries, we need a ray of hope in our lives. That ray of hope is in the form of Bucks star Giannis Antetokoumpo, who is brilliant to watch.

Giannis had 37 points and 13 rebounds for the Bucks Wednesday night, leading them to a win over the Celtics. He finished alley-oops over bigs, he used huge triple-jump strides to get ferocious blocks and he made nice passes. He did everything.

And all of this from a man who, four years ago, hadn't tasted a smoothie.
