FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Former BYU and Bingham High linebacker Harvey Langi was injured in a car crash Friday night that involved serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the New England Patriots confirmed Saturday.
The accident, which occurred Friday night when Langi and “a passenger” were rear-ended by another vehicle when stopped at a traffic signal. The two were transported to a local hospital to receive medical treatment, the Patriots said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with Harvey, the Langi family and those who sustained injuries in last night’s accident,” the team said in the statement.

The second passenger was reported to be Langi’s wife Cassidy by multiple outlets, including NESN’s Doug Kyed and ESPN’s Mike Reiss. The team did not confirm those reports.
Foxborough officials tweeted late Friday night about an accident just before 10:30 p.m. ET that required one participated to be extricated from the vehicle.

Langi, a rookie undrafted free agent who has played in one game for the Patriots, was ruled inactive for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets in East Rutherford, N.J. with a back injury. He made the 53-man roster despite going undrafted in last April’s NFL draft after playing in 36 games at BYU and finishing with 139 tackles, 6.5 sacks and two interceptions.
Langi signed a three-year contract with New England that included $100,000 in guaranteed compensation and a $15,000 signing bonus, according to multiple reports.
