MILLCREEK — A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after a shooting in Millcreek, according to Unified Police.
The shooting took place near 4000 South 500 East at about 5:30 p.m. The shooter is still at large. The teenage victim is expected to recover, according to UPD detective Chuck Malm.
Police responded to the area after hearing reports of shots fired, but neither the shooter nor the victim was nearby. A few minutes later, police got a report of a teenager with a gunshot wound who had shown up at St. Marks Hospital.
"The victim was outside this residence in front of the roadway when this vehicle pulled up," Malm said. "It appears there were some words exchanged ... At some point, there was a verbal altercation there and shots were fired."
Malm did not say how many people were in the car, how many shots were fired or where the victim had been shot. Police believe the shooting is gang-related.
