AESOP'S FABLES — I'm sure you're all familiar with the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare," but just in case it's been awhile since you revisited your book of childhood fables, here's a quick recap.

A tortoise challenges a hare to a race. The hare, being the quick little creature it is, feels overconfident in its ability to beat the slow-moving tortoise and literally takes a nap during the race. Eventually, hare wakes up and finds tortoise has won the race while she slept, and thus is born the phrase "slow and steady wins the race."

OK, now that we're all caught up, watch the actual thing take place in this video. Yes, that's right, it's a real-life race between a tortoise and a hare, and unbelievably, it ends exactly how Aesop himself predicted.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

The video, which was posted to YouTube a year ago, but just recently started going viral, shows a tortoise and a hare racing while a crowd cheers them on. The hare in this video doesn't actually take a nap mid-race, but it does get about 3/4 of the way to the finish line and then just stops, looks around and sort of gets distracted for a minute.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tortoise crawls along at his stalwart pace and manages to win, proving once and for all that slow and steady does win the race. Good job, Mr. Tortoise, but also good job to whoever captured this race on video, finally giving parents a way to show the age-old wisdom from Aesop's Fables really does apply in real life.
