LAWNSVILLE — I'm not a big fan of yard work.

I've become that person who comes home from my job, and the last thing I want to do is go putter around my yard pulling weeds, trimming rose bushes and deal with the fact that snails are eating my hostas. I like to think I lead a more interesting/leisurely life than that (though I really, really don't).

So mostly my approach is to ignore the dry lawn spots, not concern myself with planting a veggie garden and let things fall (or grow) as they may.

One Pennsylvania homeowner got creative when it came to solving a bizarre yard work issue when he popped what can only be described as a giant sod zit.

James Callender of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, found what he called an "odd lawn bubble" in his backyard one day following a rainstorm. He filmed his solution — sticking a poker directly into the soggy sack repeatedly until the squishy spot, erm, relieved itself.

“I hope it doesn’t turn into Noah’s ark because I’m flooding away if it does," Callender said in the YouTube video, which was first posted in 2015 but has recently gone viral.

According to some online gardening forums (which are totally a thing), this occurs when shallow sod roots combine with poor drainage and an excess of water accumulation. The water collects under the grass and pushes toward the surface. It apparently goes away as soon as the water is drained. Enter James Callender and his pokey-stick video that have captured the attention of YouTubers.

It does beg the question, though, posed by one video commenter: “Why destroy it? Put a blanket over it and you got yourself a free water bed.”

That's certainly one solution.
