OREM — Police on Monday identified a man killed in a crash in Provo Canyon Friday afternoon.

Orem police said Mike Taylor, 70, of Orem, was driving a vehicle on U.S. 189 close to the mouth of the canyon when the vehicle veered off the 800 North on-ramp to the highway.

Orem Police Lt. Craig Martinez said Friday Taylor’s vehicle rolled as a result of the incident. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said Taylor was not wearing a seat belt and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The crash closed the on-ramp to eastbound U.S. 189 for several hours before it was reopened.
