CEDAR CITY — Two men are in custody after fleeing their car when they were stopped for speeding on I-15, police say.

Deputies located one fleeing man quickly and sought another following a traffic stop in Cedar City Monday morning, according to the Iron County sheriff. Residents were asked to keep their doors locked while officers looked for the second man.

A deputy pulled over a car with two men inside for a traffic violation on I-15 near Cedar City early Monday, according to a spokesperson for the Iron County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy suspected drugs in the car and called for a K-9 unit to investigate. When the deputy asked the men to get out of the car, they fled on foot.

An earlier Facebook post indicated deputies believe the men to be Roberto Lorenzo-Ruiz, 28, and Manuel Romero Gallardo, 38. Both men are wanted in connection to drug trafficking violations, according to the post. Deputies had no information leading them to believe the men were armed.

The sheriff's office sent out a reverse 911 call to warn residents of northern Cedar City to lock their doors and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
