SALT LAKE CITY — Real Salt Lake picked up its second straight win Saturday, beating the Colorado Rapids 4-1 at home.

Facing the last minute of a 6-minute stoppage time, Real’s Brooks Lennon scored on a tip-in off of an assist from Bofo Saucedo, sealing a hard-fought victory against the Rapids to claim their ninth Rocky Mountain Cup in the last 11 seasons.

Real’s Luis Silva scored on a long ball deep to the corner of the goal in the 92nd minute, making it his second goal of the match. Silva has now scored at least one goal in four consecutive games, becoming the fifth player in Real history to do so.

Colorado’s Joshua Gatt attempted to keep the match close with a header on Real’s Nick Rimando in the 82nd minute for the Rapids’ only goal of the game. Gatt’s goal was originally called off for an offsides penalty, but was later awarded via video review in the 85th minute.

Joao Plata kicked things off for Real in the 41st minute with a strike against Colorado goalkeeper Tim Howard. The goal was followed up by Silva’s first strike — converting on a penalty kick given by Plata.

Real’s Danilo Acosta was awarded his first red card Saturday in the 57th minute for a late tackle from behind.

Real will resume play on Sept. 9 in Vancouver, Canada, to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
