SALT LAKE CITY — Police arrested a woman who they say was driving drunk when she went the wrong way on the freeway early Sunday, prompting several concerned calls from other drivers.

Elisabet Gutierrez, 26, got onto I-215 near 3500 South headed north in the southbound lanes between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Sunday, continuing up and onto I-15, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jalayine Hawks reported.

At times the Salt Lake woman was driving as fast as 80 mph and at other moments her speed dropped near 30 mph, Hawks said.

As police received several calls about Gutierrez, Hawks said a trooper got her attention and got her car stopped near 600 South by lightly bumping into her car.

Gutierrez was booked into Salt Lake County Jail. Details about her arrest were not immediately available.
