SALT LAKE CITY — After signing Thabo Sefolosha to a 2-year deal earlier Wednesday, the Jazz weren't done with signing players to the roster.
Enter Jonas Jerebko, who has agreed to a 2-year, $8.2 million deal with the Utah Jazz, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Jerebko is a Swedish forward who has played for the Boston Celtics for the last two and a half seasons.
Jerebko averaged 3.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last season in a bench role for the Celtics, averaging 15 minutes per game. But the 30-year-old Jerebko, who stands at 6-foot-10, found his role reduced in the playoffs somewhat.
That was because his 3-point stroke slipped last season, from a fairly consistent 40 percent shooter in previous seasons to 34.6 percent in 2016-17. Jerebko is a good switching defender on some wing players, but sometimes struggles inside against bigger post men.
Jerebko figures to play some backup power forward and even backup center for the Jazz. His signing likely signals the departure of Boris Diaw, whose contract becomes guaranteed on July 15.
