KAYSVILLE — Alta’s boys soccer team may have been mentally preparing itself for penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw through 14 minutes of extra time of its Class 4A boys soccer state semifinal at Davis High.

Jett Sollis had other ideas.

Sollis scored a goal inside the near post in the fourth minute of the second extra session, and the Hawks rallied for a 2-1 victory over Box Elder.

Alta will face East in the state championship game Thursday at 7 p.m. MDT at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Trevor Watson gave the Bees an early lead just 30 seconds into the match. Box Elder would hold that lead until Alta’s Jack Anderson cleaned up a loose ball in front of goal with seven minutes remaining to force extra time.

East 4, Skyline 0 — At Davis, Ryen Jiba scored two goals to pace the Leopards’ rout of Skyline to earn a berth in the 4A state final Thursday at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Dylan Rodriguez and Matt Barker also scored a goal for East, which netted two in each half and rolled to the win.

Trever Elders earned the shutout for East.
