SALT LAKE CITY — Two small earthquakes rattled a remote area of Utah and just outside of the state late Friday and early Saturday.
The first quake, recorded at the University of Utah Seismograph Stations in Salt Lake City, came at about 10 p.m. Friday just south of Blanding, in southeastern Utah, measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale. There was no damage reported, though some Twitter posts indicate that people felt the minor temblor.
The ground then shook outside Rangely, Colorado, just off the central-eastern border of Utah at 11:48 a.m. Saturday. That quake reached a 3.7 in intensity.
Though small, the quakes point to frequent and sometimes daily seismic activity throughout the region that is recorded at the U. stations.
