OROFINO — A 17-year-old boy who ran away after his high school prom last weekend died Wednesday afternoon following a car crash.
Kristian Branden Perez was involved in the wreck that occurred in Nez Perce County, according to the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office. In a news release, officials said he lost control of the vehicle and rolled it over a small embankment.
The Lewiston Tribune reports Perez was flown by medical helicopter to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and a nursing supervisor confirmed his death.
Perez was reported missing by his mother on April 15 after leaving the Orofino High School prom around 9:30 p.m. He was located in an Orofino home around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Orofino Police Department.
The home belongs to 26-year-old Tyson Imel and police say they were led there after receiving a tip.
Imel has been charged with misdemeanor providing shelter to runaway children.
