SALT LAKE CITY โ The Utah Jazz will have fans opening their wallets and purses for their newest, old jersey.
Rumors have been going around for months the Jazz could have a throwback jersey this year. That rumor was verified Wednesday by Jazz point guard Ricky Rubio, who played the largest part in the reveal.
On September 13, Rubio sent out a tweet that peaked Jazz fansโ curiosity.
Jazz fans didnโt miss the hint; and after only a couple of hours of anticipation, Rubio made the official reveal.
The City Edition jerseys ended up being a huge hit last year and sold out quickly. The Jazz had about 300 City Edition jerseys that went on sale on January 23, a week before they played the Golden State Warriors in the debut game for the jersey and court. All 300 had sold out within the first 72 hours. Jazz President Steve Starks tweeted on March 7 that โThe response has been unlike anything weโve ever seen as they became the fastest selling Jazz jersey in history.โ
The Jazz will be keeping all of last years jerseys and adding the throwback to the 2018-19 season.
But Utah may not be finished. In the past, teams playing on Christmas unveil a special jersey for that day. Time will tell if the Jazz will be introducing a sixth jersey for 2018.
