SALT LAKE CITY — The Friday night lights grew dim as Utah bypassed a prime-time opportunity to beat the USC Trojans at the Coliseum. A 30-23 loss by the Utes dropped Utah in the national rankings as the Trojans made a jump back in after a one-week hiatus.

Utah moved down to No. 19 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll, down nine spots in the AP poll and eight spots in the Coaches Poll. The Utes were previously the highest ranked school in the Pac-12 prior to its loss Friday.

The Pac-12 features five programs ranked this week, with the top honor in the conference going to No. 13 Oregon, who claimed a 21-3 win over Stanford for the first win of conference play for the Ducks. The Ducks have yet to give up a touchdown to its opponent since its Week 1 loss to Auburn.

The remaining Pac-12 opponents ranked include No. 15 California, No. 17 Washington and No. 21 USC. The Coaches Poll has Cal at No. 16 and USC at No. 25. The Golden Bears are the only team that is still undefeated in the conference after a 28-20 win over Ole Miss on the road.

Washington picked apart the BYU Cougars in a 45-19 road contest win in Provo, and USC, which had been previously ranked before losing to BYU in overtime, bounced back in a big way to regain a spot in the Top 25.

Washington State, which blew a 49-17 lead with just over six minutes left in the third quarter Saturday night to lose 67-63 to UCLA, and Arizona State, which lost a close battle with Colorado, dropped out of the Top 25 this week. Both are still receiving votes in this week’s poll, as are Colorado and Arizona.

Seven total Top 25 teams lost in Week 4 of action, but the top teams remain unblemished. As a result, voters kept a majority of Top 5 programs where they were last week.

Clemson remains the No. 1 team in the country and is followed by No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Ohio State. Oklahoma, which had a bye this week, dropped to No. 6 in the AP poll. The Coaches Poll had Oklahoma at No. 4 and LSU No. 5, with Ohio State at No. 6.
