OREM — Utah Valley first-year coach Mark Madsen released his full 2019-20 schedule Thursday morning, a list that includes dates with national power Kentucky and in-state rivalry games with Weber State and Southern Utah.

But it wasn't the only good news he received this week.

Trey Woodbury, a former three-star shooting guard from Las Vegas who played one season at UNLV has received a waiver from the NCAA clearing him to play immediately for the Wolverines, a source with knowledge of the clearance told KSL.com.

Woodbury averaged 1.4 points in 6.3 minutes per game as a freshman for the Runnin' Rebels but announced his transfer shortly after UNLV replace head coach Marvin Menzies with T.J. Otzelberger. The 6-foot-4 guard was a Rivals Top-100 recruit as a junior at Clark High School, when he averaged 14.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Chargers en route to the Class 4A state title game.

With the waiver, Woodbury has three seasons of eligibility remaining plus a redshirt season.

Lost in the Wolverines' upcoming schedule are recent series with in-state rivals BYU and Utah State. But the club added 10 teams that played in the postseason a year ago — including Kentucky, Colorado State, Long Beach State and Wyoming.

Utah Valley will play Weber State on Dec. 4 in Orem, followed by a trip to Cedar City on Dec. 7. Then they will move on to fellow Big Sky opponent Northern Arizona on Dec. 14.

"We are playing a fantastic schedule this coming year," Madsen said in a statement from the team. "As a program, one of our priorities is to play against top competition each year. In November, we fly to Lexington for a game against Kentucky, which will be a great test. We will not shy away from traveling with additional road games at UAB, Colorado State, and Wyoming.

"On a local level, we are excited to play Weber State at home and Southern Utah on the road as we hope to add to the rich basketball tradition in the state of Utah."

The Wolverines' 16-game Western Athletic Conference schedule begins Jan. 2 against Chicago State, while league standard-bearer New Mexico State visits the UCCU Center on Jan. 16.
