TAMPA, Fla. — For the second-straight year, Utah Valley’s men’s basketball ended the season in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational.

Alexis Yetna poured in 17 points, 10 rebounds and three assists; and David Collins added 17 points and three assists to help South Florida eliminate Utah Valley from the CBI, 66-57, Monday evening in Tampa, Florida.

Laquincy Rideau supplied 14 points for USF (21-13).

Ben Nakwaasah scored 12 points to go along with three rebounds to lead Utah Valley, and Conner MacDougall added 10 points. Richard Harward added 10 points and five rebounds for the Wolverines (25-10).

The Bulls held Western Athletic Conference player of the year Jake Toolson to just seven points, two rebounds and two assists for UVU.

Harward capped a 7-0 run early in the second half that turned a one-point halftime deficit into a 39-37 edge at the under-15 timeout.

But Collins drained back-to-back 3-pointers to start a 16-2 run, and the Bulls took a 15-point lead through most of the final 10 minutes to end Utah Valley’s season after the most wins in the program's Division I history.

Nakwaasah and TJ Washington spurred an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 10, 64-54, with 1:11 remaining. But the Wolverines could get no closer.

Monday marked the third-straight year with at least one win in the CBI for the Wolverines. Mark Pope’s squad finished with a program-high win total in his fourth year, surpassing last year’s 23-11 season that finished in the CBI quarterfinals, as well.

UVU advanced to the CBI semifinals in 2016-17.
