SALT LAKE CITY — March is reserved for one thing.
Sure, people have birthdays in the month and there’s some green holiday mixed in there somewhere around the middle of the month, but they all serve as distractions to the one main event.
This month is about creating brackets — pitting ourselves against random strangers who care only marginally about the teams they pick to win it all. Each year at KSL.com, we like to add a counter bracket to the other madness out there — just to be a little different.
In years past, we’ve used this bracket challenge to determine the best large and small city in Utah. We’ve even used it to find the most prominent Utahn that has graced us with his or her presence.
This year? It’s a challenge to see which high school is the best.
Sure, this could turn into an athletic debate or a regional superiority complex. Either way, it’s a very scientific way to see what school is the best — in whatever means you see fit to determine that.
The state has approximately 154 designated high schools (or its equivalent), which is far too many to pit against each other in a bracket-style challenge. So, we’re only taking schools from the 6A, 5A and 4A classifications this year, and we will do the smaller schools next year (just like we did with the best big and small cities).
Still, between those three classifications there are 77 schools available. To get our 64-team bracket, we need to eliminate a few schools (sorry, only one can win anyway). This is where you, the awesome readers of KSL.com, come into play.
Below are polls for each region within the various classifications. The top 64 vote getters within those three classifications will move on to the bracket challenge next week. The pairings will be based on the voting percentages of each school. Do you want a No. 1 seed for your favorite school? Get out the vote and secure one of the top spots!
