SALT LAKE CITY — Following a one-week absence, Utah football is back in the College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings.
Utah jumped to No. 19 in the rankings after defeating Oregon 32-25 Saturday in the first game without quarterback Tyler Huntley and running back Zack Moss. The Utes were previously ranked No. 15 before losing a game to Arizona State and dropping out of the Top 25.
The Utes also moved up in the Associated Press Top 25 to No. 21 and in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll to No. 19 on Sunday.
Utah is now one of three teams from the Pac-12 included in the Top 25 and the only South Division team to represent the conference. Leading the conference is No. 8 Washington State, followed by No. 18 Washington. The Cougars have an outside shot of making the playoffs but would need help from the teams ahead of them.
And for the first time this season, Utah State was finally included in the Top 25 at No. 23. The Aggies are 9-1 and undefeated in conference play and appear set for a Mountain West Conference championship appearance. Boise State also makes an appearance in the rankings at No. 25.
Atop the rankings, again, is No. 1 Alabama, followed by No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Georgia and No. 6 Oklahoma. As it stands, Georgia and Oklahoma would be on the outside looking in on the playoffs.
