UNDATED (AP) — Arizona guard Aari McDonald will return for her senior season, bypassing a chance to leave early for the WNBA. She announced the decision on Twitter. The Wildcats had one of the best seasons in program history, winning 24 games while climbing to no. 11 in the AP Top 25. Arizona was poised to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 years and likely would have hosted first-round games before the coronavirus outbreak wiped out the season. The Wildcats were No. 12 in the final AP poll and McDonald was named a second-team All-American.

UNDATED (AP) — The most famous timeout called in the history of the NCAA Tournament has been variously called the biggest mistake, the biggest choke, the most embarrassing gaffe, all because that timeout didn't actually exist. But the infamous timeout that Michigan star Chris Webber called against North Carolina in the 1993 title game, resulting in a technical foul and essentially gifting the Tar Heels the title, is just one of several key moments have come to define the NCAA Tournament. And sometimes, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to those games.

SEATTLE (AP) — Former Washington football coach Jim Lambright has died at age 77, the school announced. Lambright spent nearly four decades associated with the Washington program as a player, assistant coach and head coach. No cause of death was given. Lambright was arrested in 2014 and at that time his family stated he was suffering from dementia and his condition was worsening. Lambright played for the Huskies from 1962-64. He returned as an assistant coach in 1969 and took over as head coach in 1993 following the abrupt retirement of Don James. Lambright was 44-25-1 as head coach but was fired after the 1998 season.

UNDATED (AP) — A panel of Associated Press sports writers has come up with the top 10 men's basketball games in the history of the NCAA Tournament. The third game on the list is North Carolina State's victory over Phi Slama Jama and Houston in 1983. Lorenzo Charles provided the winning points, collecting a miss by Dereck Whittenburg and slamming it with one second left in a 54-52 stunner that ended Houston's 26-game winning streak. The Cougars were led by Akeem Olajuwon with 20 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks.
