OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Tommy Henry limited Florida State to three hits and Jesse Franklin's first-inning home run stood up in Michigan's 2-0 win at the College World Series. The Wolverines took control of Bracket 1 in their first CWS appearance since 1984 and need one more win Friday to reach the best-of-three finals next week. Florida State fell to 1-1 and has scored just two runs in 26 innings.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — It's time for the New Orleans Pelicans to draft a new face of the franchise. The trade request by six-time All-Star Anthony Davis has been honored and Duke star Zion Williamson is widely seen as the top prospect in any NBA draft since Davis in 2012. The Pelicans were unlikely winners of the NBA draft lottery last month and can draft Williamson first overall on Thursday night. The agreed upon but still unofficial Davis trade also gives the Pelicans the rights to the Lakers' fourth overall pick.

UNDATED (AP) — Duke freshman Zion Williamson tops the list of forwards in the NBA draft and is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick. Williamson joined with fellow one-and-done forward RJ Barrett in giving the Blue Devils a powerful 1-2 punch. Barrett and De'Andre Hunter from NCAA champion Virginia are the other top lottery prospects at the position. Other names to watch include Gonzaga's Rui Hachimura, North Carolina's Nassir Little and Sekou Doumbouya from the top French pro league.

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) — A former Virginia Tech basketball player did not show up to his court date for a marijuana possession charge, leading a judge to find him guilty before reversing the conviction hours later. News outlets report 23-year-old Tyrone Khalil Outlaw did not appear in court Thursday for the misdemeanor drug offense, after his case was called about 45 minutes late. Outlaw's attorney then persuaded the judge to undo the guilty verdict and rehear the case in September.
