MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Incumbent Sen. Luther Strange wished jurist Roy Moore well after losing the Alabama Republican primary for Senate. Strange told his supporters Tuesday night that "we wish (Moore) well going forward." Strange also thanked President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for backing him.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans have conceded defeat on their last-ditch effort to repeal and replace "Obamacare." The bill's authors acknowledge they don't have the votes ahead of a critical deadline at the end of this week. President Donald Trump is slamming 'certain so-called Republicans' and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says the focus will now turn to tax reform.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon is greatly increasing the active-duty military forces being sent in to help relief efforts in Puerto Rico, growing from about 2,500 now to possibly double that number in the next several days. The military response will include additional medical facilities, satellite communications equipment and a civil affairs unit from Fort Bragg, N.C., that will be used to help communicate with the residents on the island.

JACKSON, Ga. (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court has granted a temporary stay of execution for a Georgia man who killed his sister-in-law 27 years ago. Keith Leroy Tharpe had been scheduled to die Tuesday.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — President Donald Trump has commended Saudi Arabia's decision to allow women to drive. The change came in a royal order reported by state media late Tuesday that takes effect next June. The statement from the White House press secretary's office says Trump viewed the change as "a positive step toward promoting the rights and opportunities of women in Saudi Arabia."
