DALLAS (AP) — Officers in riot gear, and some on horseback, have forced hundreds of protesters out a Dallas cemetery where they were clashing over a Confederate monument. More than 100 demonstrators lingered on a blockaded street after they were pushed out of Pioneer Park. Many yelled at the officers standing watch, and a helicopter circled above.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Another North Carolina city is cleaning up after vandals defaced the base of a Confederate soldier statue. Multiple media organizations reported someone spray-painted unintelligible black letters on at least two sides of the downtown Winston-Salem memorial, but did not deface the soldier portrayed atop the base.

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Police in the southern French city of Nimes have arrested a man unlawfully carrying a pistol into a train station, but say he is not linked to the attacks in Barcelona. After an evacuation and police operation at the train station Saturday night, the historic city quickly returned to normal, with police returning to their posts. A national police spokesman said the operation began when a passenger alerted police to a man with a weapon. Police quickly found and arrested him.

PARIS (AP) — An Italian father, an American groom, and a Portuguese grandmother were but a few of the more than 100 people from around the world killed or injured in Barcelona's attacks. They leave behind loved ones in nearly three dozen countries, a testimony to the openness of the city. World leaders mourned lost compatriots and families and friends searched for the missing.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Civilian researchers say they have located the wreck of the World War II heavy cruiser USS Indianapolis. The ship played a critical role in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima before being struck by Japanese torpedoes. The sinking of the Indianapolis remains the Navy's single worst loss at sea. The expedition crew of Research Vessel Petrel says it located the wreckage of the Indianapolis on the floor of the North Pacific Ocean.
