WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a man driving a car on a metro Salt Lake City freeway was killed when it stopped in a traffic lane and then was struck from behind by another car and burst into flames on impact.
The victim of the crash that occurred late Friday night on Interstate 215 in West Valley City was identified as 23-year-old Luis Franco of West Valley City.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, Franco was the only person in the stopped car.
The driver of the other car wasn't seriously injured.
Northbound lanes of I-215 reopened Saturday morning after authorities cleaned up debris and investigated the crash.
