JON VOIGHT, ALISON KRAUSS HONORED WITH NATIONAL MEDALS

WASHINGTON (AP) — Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, singer and musician Alison Krauss and mystery writer James Patterson are among those being honored by President Donald Trump for their contributions to the arts or the humanities.

The White House announced four recipients of the National Medal of Arts and four of the National Humanities Medal Sunday night.

They’re the first recipients of the prestigious national medals since Trump took office and will be honored during a ceremony Thursday.

Voight is a rare Hollywood star who publicly backs the president, and he has hailed Trump as “the greatest president of this century."

Neither honor, usually an annual affair, had been awarded since Trump’s inauguration in January 2017. The most recent arts or humanities medals were bestowed by President Barack Obama in September 2016.

KYLIE JENNER SELLS STAKE IN BEAUTY EMPIRE TO COVERGIRL OWNER

NEW YORK (AP) — Reality TV star Kylie Jenner is selling a stake of her beauty brand to Coty, the owner of CoverGirl makeup.

Coty Inc. will pay $600 million for a 51% stake in Kylie Cosmetics, valuing it at about $1.2 billion. Coty says it plans to launch more products under the Kylie brand and sell them in more countries around the world.

Jenner, part of the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” reality show family, founded her company four years ago, relying on her hundreds of millions of social media followers to promote the brand, which includes her popular lip liner. Last year she struck a deal to sell her goods in 1,100 Ulta Beauty stores.

Coty says Jenner will still be the face of the brand and be involved in creating new products.

LIKE HER PARENTS, BLUE IVY NOW AN AWARD-WINNING SONGWRITER

NEW YORK (AP) — At just 7, Blue Ivy Carter is an award-winning songwriter.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s daughter won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at Sunday’s Soul Train Awards for co-writing her mom’s hit “Brown Skin Girl,” a song celebrating dark- and brown-skinned women.

Ivy Carter gives a vocal performance that opens and closes the song, which also features Wizkid and Saint Jhn.

The Carters weren’t at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas to accept the honor named after the legendary Motown songwriting duo Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson. Ivy Carter shares the win with Beyoncé, Jay-Z, St. Jhn and several other co-writers.

This week could get even better for Ivy Carter: Grammy nominations will be revealed Wednesday and “Brown Skin Girl” could earn a nomination.

CHANG SAYS HIS NEW NETFLIX SHOW HONORS BOURDAIN

LOS ANGELES (AP) — “Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner” host David Chang says he understands why critics are making comparisons to work done by his late friend and colleague Anthony Bourdain.

The Netflix series fuses food and travel with celebrity guests.

Chang says they wanted to “be respectful and pay homage’’ to Bourdain but tried to make his new series “a different show.”

Bourdain was known for using culinary traditions as a storytelling tool to explore cultures in his CNN series, “Parts Unknown." He killed himself in 2018.

Perhaps what’s most different about Chang’s new Netflix series is the sweet and occasionally salty chef himself.

The first four episodes of “Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner’’ pair Chang with Chrissy Teigen in Marrakesh, Kate McKinnon in Phnom Penh, Seth Rogen in Vancouver and Lena Waithe in Los Angeles.

PAUL MCCARTNEY TO HEADLINE GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL

LONDON (AP) — Paul McCartney has snagged the coveted Saturday night headline slot at Glastonbury next year as the British music festival celebrates its 50th birthday.

Festival organizers confirmed Monday that the former Beatle will perform on the main Pyramid Stage on June 27.

McCartney last played Glastonbury in 2004, delivering a set of songs covering the Beatles era, his later work solo and with Wings.

The 77-year-old star tweeted: "Hey Glasto - excited to be part of your Anniversary celebrations. See ya next summer!"

The festival takes over Worthy Farm in southwest England from June 24-28. The 135,000 tickets sold within an hour of going on sale last month.
