SALT LAKE CITY — A Kearns man was charged Friday with sexually assaulting two young boys in separate incidents.
Michael Tristan Hauser, 18, was charged in one case with sodomy on a child, a first-degree felony. He is charged in a second case with sodomy on a child, a first-degree felony, plus making a threat of terrorism and 34 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all second-degree felonies.
In the first case, Hauser sexually assaulted a young boy in the boy’s home in October while his mother slept, and he took a picture of the incident, according to charging documents filed in 3rd District Court.
Charges were not filed in that October case until after Hauser was arrested this week and accused of a similar crime.
On Monday, Unified police booked Hauser into the Salt Lake County Jail in connection with both the alleged sodomy in October and new allegations involving a 6-year-old boy.
The mother of the 6-year-old boy called police on Sunday, Feb. 9, to report that her son had been sexually assaulted by Hauser, who “after the incident made threats to shoot up Kearns High,” according to a police booking affidavit.
When interviewed by police, Hauser admitted to the sexual misconduct and said he took a picture of the action on his phone, the affidavit states. “Michael said because he was upset about the incident he threatened to shoot up Kearns High School. Michael said he probably would not shoot the school.”
For the most recent incident, charging documents say that after Hauser was arrested, they searched his phone and found 31 images of child pornography in addition to the pictures he allegedly took of the victim.
