SALT LAKE CITY — The Mexican Consulate is hosting the opening ceremony for its third Binational Education Week, a program dedicated to helping immigrant Mexicans find ways to return to, or continue, their education.

The event will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Mexican Consulate at 660 S. 200 East, suite 300, in Salt Lake City.

The ceremony will include guest speakers, including keynote speaker Sen. Ann Millner, R-Ogden, who will speak about her vision regarding Utah’s current education status.

The panel will have an open discussion on what challenges and changes stand in the way for minorities when continuing their education and the resources available to help them.

This education week, hosted from Nov. 18 to Nov. 24, will include information on a multitude of workshops and informative sessions that will take place around Utah at various colleges and universities. These topics range from financial aid, scholarships, English classes and much more.

A detailed list of the speakers for the ceremony and locations of the workshops can be found on the Mexican Consulate of Salt Lake City’s website.

Guests can RSVP for the opening ceremony by emailing Maria Ruiz at mariar@consulmexslc.org.
