SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a hunter who has been missing since early Monday morning.

Carl L. Crumrine, 69, was with a hunting group in the Lyman Lake area of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in eastern Summit County, according to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

He was last seen about 5:30 a.m. Monday, according to the release. A member of his hunting group called law enforcement officials just before 9 p.m. Monday after Crumrine did not return to his campsite after sunset, the release states.

Crumrine, who is from West Virginia, is new to the area, the release said. He had a small amount of food with him and was prepared for cold weather.

A search is underway, with people searching on ground, horseback anad air via a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter, the release said.

Crumrine is a white male and is 5 feet 10 inches and 240 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes, according to the release. He is thought to be wearing a camouflage shirt, coat and pants with a black and orange hunting vest, according to the release.

Anyone who may have seen Crumrine or has any information about him is asked to call the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at 435-615-3600.
