TREMONTON — The Utah Highway Patrol released the name of the man who died Friday when he rear-ended a semitruck on I-15 in Box Elder County.

On Saturday, officials said the man who died was John Hallum, 75, was from Caldwell, Idaho.

Hallum was driving the car, authorities said, near milepost 376 in traffic that was slowed due to weather, construction and a previous crash when he struck the semi. A female passenger, whose name has not been released, suffered critical injuries in the crash.

It happened at about 12:14 p.m. near Tremonton.
