EAGLE MOUNTAIN — An Eagle Mountain woman who police say locked her daughter out of their home and wouldn’t let her back in now faces a criminal charge.
The 35-year-old woman was charged Friday in 4th District Court with child abandonment, a third-degree felony.
On Aug. 27, a mother locked her 15-year-old daughter out of their house “and told her she was no longer welcome in her home,” according to charging documents.
When interviewed by police, the woman told them the girl was “not my problem anymore,” the charges state, and when she was told they would be screening potential charges against her, she replied, “I wish you would.”
Police noted that the mother “failed to make any, much less reasonable, arrangements for the safety, care and physical custody of her daughter,” the charges state.
The mother will be issued a summons to appear in court at a later time, according to court records.
