STRAWBERRY RESERVOIR — Emergency crews found the body of a 15-year-old boy who "had a gone under the water at Strawberry Reservoir and not resurfaced," officials said on their Facebook page.

"Today we were able to help this family in locating this young man,” Wasatch County Sheriff Jared Rigby said.

Wasatch County Sheriff's Office said its 911 center was alerted about the potential drowning around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to Rigby, an officer and search and rescue members found the boy's body in an area of the reservoir that was 15 to 20 feet deep.

Crews brought the unresponsive body to the shore and attempted to resuscitate the boy, they then moved him to Soldier Creek Campground where "a lot of the life saving, resuscitating work took place."

"Unfortunately, crews were not able to save this young man," Rigby said.

Officials assume the boy drowned, however, the state medical examiner's office will make the official determination.

“Strawberry reservoir is a place where a lot of people come to have fun and we need people to wear life jackets," Rigby said. "This family did a number of things that were right, they were together, they knew what was going on and had a plan and still bad things can happen."

This is the third fatality at Strawberry Reservoir this year.
