1 dead, 1 injured in Summit County head-on crash, authorities say

PEOA, Summit County — One person died and another suffered critical injuries in a Thursday morning crash in Summit County, authorities say.

The crash took place about 8:46 a.m. near 4650 W. Browns Canyon Road, just south of Rockport Reservoir in Summit County, according to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

A 2012 Toyota Camry was driving west on Browns Canyon Road and veered into oncoming traffic, according to the news release. The Camry collided head-on with a 2008 Toyota Highlander, the release states.

The 63-year-old female driver of the Camry, who is from Oakley, died during the crash, according to the release. The 31-year-old man who was driving the Highlander, who is from Peoa, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital in the Salt Lake area.

The two people were not identified in the release. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, but there were no other witnesses.
